New York: Nigerian filmmaker, Nollywood powerhouse, and producer, Bolanle Austen-Peters has made history with her new film, “House of Ga’a.” According to Netflix, the movie has debuted as the No. 1 movie in Nigeria and has taken the world by storm, reaching the coveted No. 7 spot globally on Netflix (Non-English films).
In a heartfelt Instagram post, Austen-Peters expressed her gratitude to every individual who has watched and shared the film. She highlighted that apart from being No. 1 in Nigeria, “House of Ga’a” has gained massive popularity on the global stage, garnering an astonishing 3.4 million views in just 5 days.
“Honestly, I woke up to this heartwarming news. Apart from being No. 1 in Nigeria, we are No. 7 on Netflix Global (Non-English films). It won’t have been possible without every single person that has pushed and watched House of Ga’a. We have had 3.4 million views in 5 days. Let’s continue to push as we celebrate African stories,” she said.
The highly acclaimed director has been recognized for her outstanding work in the film industry, having produced several successful Nollywood films. “House of Ga’a” is another testament to her mastery of storytelling and production. This gripping drama set in 18th-century Oyo Empire tells the poignant tale of power-hungry Ga’a, who orchestrates a brutal betrayal of a series of kings, determined to rise above the kings he serves.
