Jonathan Majors Reveals His Reaction to Being Replaced as Kang the Conqueror in Marvel’s Avengers: Doomsday
In a recent interview, Jonathan Majors, the actor who played Kang the Conqueror in Marvel’s Ant-Man and the Wasp: Quantumania, opened up about his reaction to being replaced as the character in the upcoming Avengers: Doomsday film. The news came as a shock to fans, as Majors had been expected to reprise his role as Kang in the new movie.
Majors confessed that he was "heartbroken" when he learned that Marvel had decided to go in a different direction with the character. He expressed his love for Kang, but acknowledged that Dr. Doom, played by Robert Downey Jr., is a "wicked" villain. Majors also revealed that he was hurt by the decision, feeling that he didn’t receive the same level of patience and understanding as Downey Jr. did.
The news of Majors’ replacement comes after he was arrested in March 2023 on assault and harassment charges from his then-girlfriend, Grace Jabbari. Majors was found guilty on two misdemeanor counts and was sentenced to probation and a one-year domestic violence treatment program.
Despite the controversy surrounding his personal life, Majors remains a fan favorite and has expressed his desire to return to the MCU in the future. In a recent interview with Lifehacker, he gushed about his admiration for Downey Jr.’s portrayal of Iron Man, stating that he would love to work alongside him on screen.
As of June 2024, Majors’ next role will be in the upcoming sci-fi revenge thriller, Merciless, but there are currently no plans for him to reunite with Marvel.
The decision to replace Majors as Kang the Conqueror has left fans wondering what could have been, but it’s clear that Majors is still passionate about his work and eager to make a comeback in the future.
