Youthful Activism Erupts in Jalingo as Children and Youths Protest Hardships

In a rare display of youthful activism, children aged 8-13 and youths took to the streets of Jalingo on Thursday afternoon to protest the prevailing hardships. The protest, which began on the popular Hamaruwa Way and proceeded towards the flyover bridge, a notable landmark in the city, saw the participants chanting "Bamu ai, bamu ai," which translates to "We don’t agree, we don’t agree," to draw attention to the challenges they are facing.

The children and teenagers, vocal about their grievances, demanded immediate action to alleviate their suffering. Our correspondent, who monitored the development, reports that the protesters were closely monitored by personnel from the police and the Nigeria Security and Civil Defence Corps (NSCDC).

This rare display of youthful activism highlights the desperation and frustration felt by many young people in Jalingo, who are seeking change and a better future. As the world watches, it remains to be seen how the authorities will respond to these demands for change.
