In a colorful ceremony, the Minister of the Federal Capital Territory (FCT), Nyesom Wike, has presented Staff of Office to newly appointed graded Chiefs of the four Chiefdoms of Karu, Kwali, Pai, and Yaba in the FCT. The ceremony, which showcased the rich culture of the FCT people, saw the Minister congratulate the newly graded chiefs on their appointments and charge them to take their duties seriously and responsibly. The Minister emphasized the importance of traditional rulers in ensuring peace and security in their domains and urged them to inform their subjects about government policies and programs.

According to the Minister, traditional rulers play a vital role in interfacing with the people and conveying government messages. He encouraged them to be forthright about their demands and assured that the government will provide the necessary tools to support their work.

The Minister also recalled that the requests made by stakeholders in the FCT Area Councils during earlier security town hall interactions are already being implemented as agreed. He urged the traditional rulers to reach out to the government and communicate their needs, assuring that the government will dialogue with them to provide the necessary support.

In his address, the Minister said, "Your role is no longer to sit at home. Your role is now to make sure you bring peace to your domain. You make sure security is provided. You make sure to inform the government that there are things you observe that the government should come in and see what they can do, which is very key."

The presentation of Staff of Office marks a significant milestone in the history of the FCT, as it recognizes the importance of traditional rulers in the governance of the territory. The ceremony was attended by dignitaries and stakeholders from across the region.
