Nigerian Musician Blackface Urges Protesters to Conduct Themselves Peacefully
Veteran dancehall singer Augustine Ahmedu Obiabo, better known as Blackface, has added his voice to the ongoing nationwide protests in Nigeria, urging participants to conduct themselves peacefully.
In a statement on his social media page, Blackface emphasized that Nigerians are suffering and that the protest is justified. However, he also stressed the importance of safety, warning protesters against destroying or vandalizing properties.
"My people, I know things are rough and tough and yes, we deserve better from our politicians in power enriching themselves while we, the people, have very little to get by!" Blackface wrote. "As we protest, please stay safe, as your life is important, and don’t go destroying people’s properties."
