Ex-Liverpool Defender Slams Osimhen Loan Move to Chelsea

In a surprising turn of events, former Liverpool defender Steve Nicol has come out against the idea of Victor Osimhen joining Chelsea on loan. According to reports, Napoli and Chelsea are in talks regarding a potential deal, with Osimhen heading to Stamford Bridge on loan while Romelu Lukaku joins Napoli permanently.

However, Osimhen’s agent, Roberto Calenda, has since denied the story, leaving fans and experts alike wondering what the future holds for the Nigeria international. Football market expert Fabrizio Romano has stated that Osimhen will only accept a loan deal to Chelsea if it contains a mandatory option to buy clause.

Nicol, speaking to ESPN FC, has expressed his disapproval of the potential loan move, citing concerns for Osimhen’s well-being. "I can’t get my head around this – Osimhen signs a new deal to be nice to the club and then he goes on loan to Chelsea? It doesn’t make a lot of sense from Osimhen’s point of view," Nicol said.

The former defender also highlighted the unpredictability of football, stating that things can change quickly. "You know you go there on loan and all of a sudden you either get injured or you have a bad time and your whole world is turned upside down," Nicol warned.

While Nicol understands that the deal could make sense for both clubs if the money is right, he believes Osimhen should prioritize his own interests. "I don’t think I would be keen to go on loan if I am Osimhen. The guy is a proper player," Nicol concluded.

As the situation continues to unfold, fans will be eagerly waiting to see what the future holds for Osimhen and whether he will ultimately join Chelsea on loan.
