2023 elections: Peter Obi reacts as NUC orders closure of universities

Peter Obi, Labour Party presidential candidate, has commended the National Universities Commission, NUC, for directing the closure of all universities and inter-university centres.

Media Talk Africa had reported that the NUC ordered the closure of universities between February 22nd and March 14.

The Minister of Education, Mallam Adamu Adamu, gave the directive following consultation with relevant security agencies.

Reacting, Obi on Twitter wrote, β€œI heartily welcome the decision of the National Universities Commission (NUC), to close universities ahead of the 2023 general elections.

β€œSo as to enable the students participate in the polls and exercise their constitutional rights to vote.”
