Nigeria’s Youth Take Center Stage in Governance Calls for Cabinet Revamp

LAGOS, Nigeria – As widespread protests continue across Rivers State, a young Nigerian politician, Fubara Dagogo, is seeking to bring attention to the urgent need for change. Dagogo has called on President Bola Tinubu to consider appointing young people to his cabinet, amid ongoing demonstrations by youth organizations.

The Rivers State politician’s plea came following his acquisition of the New Nigeria People’s Party (NNPP) nomination form for the Local Government election, set for October 5 in the state. The nomination form was generously donated by some supporters of Governor Siminalayi Fubara and local stakeholders in the Bonny Local Government Area.

Dagogo, who serves as an ambassador for the United Nations Social Economic Council, took the opportunity to emphasize the importance of peaceful protest. He expressed his support for ongoing demonstrations, ensuring that his hometown Bonny residents would lead his supporters in the protests. Furthermore, the young leader emphasized that protesting is a fundamental human right that should never be stifled.

Apart from encouraging youthful involvement, Dagogo emphasized the government’s necessity to establish a new social value system, effectively addressing the escalating concerns of young Nigerians.

Demonstrating commendable leadership during the protests in Rivers State, Governor Siminalayi Fubara successfully calmed the tensions after engaging with youthful protesters on the inaugural day of the demonstration.

George Brown, a member of the Peoples Democratic Party and an ally of Governor Fubara, shared the supporters’ determination to prioritize capable candidates over party affiliations during the impending Local Government elections.

As the quest for significant reforms gathers momentum in Nigeria, voices like Fubara Dagogo’s continue to bring attention to the needs and expectations of the youth, propelling discussions about inclusivity and youth engagement in governance.
