Nigeria Oscars Selection Committee Announces New Members Ahead of 97th Edition

The Nigeria Oscars Selection Committee (NOSC) has announced five new members ahead of the 97th edition of the annual Academy Awards. The new additions will join the existing team to select the best film from Nigeria for the prestigious award.

The new members include Ali Nuhu, Managing Director of the Nigerian Film Corporation; Blessing Egbe, a renowned film producer; Victor Akande, a popular journalist and film critic; Kene Okwuosa, Group Chief Executive Officer of Filmhouse Cinemas; and Ijeoma Agu, a talented actress.

According to a statement by NOSC leader Stephanie Linus, the new members will join returning members Omotola Jalade-Ekeinde, Victor Okhai, Andy Amenechi, Yibo Koko, Izu Ojukwu, Dimeji Ajibola, Emem Isong, Jude Idada, Meg Otanwa, and John Njamah.

The statement emphasized that the additional members come from diverse creative backgrounds, which will enhance the process of selecting the best film from Nigeria. The 97th edition of the Oscars awards is scheduled to take place on March 2nd, 2025.

With this announcement, the NOSC is poised to select a top-notch film that represents Nigeria’s rich cinematic talent. The committee’s efforts will undoubtedly raise the bar for Nigerian filmmakers and provide a platform for them to showcase their skills on a global stage.
