Tinubu’s Speech Falls Short as PDP Criticizes Insensitivity to Nigerians’ Plight

The Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) has slammed President Bola Tinubu’s recent address, stating that it failed to address the demands of the #EndBadGovernance protesters. The party’s spokesman, Debo Ologunagba, expressed disappointment that the speech showed insensitivity to the plight of Nigerians, coming days after protesters took to the streets across the country.

The PDP claims that it was the party’s prodding that prompted Tinubu to speak to the nation, and yet the speech failed to offer any concrete measures to address the country’s economic hardships. The party is demanding immediate measures to reduce the price of petroleum products, halt the fall of the Naira, and provide food items to starving Nigerians.

The PDP is also shocked that the speech did not order an investigation into the brutal killing of unarmed Nigerians by security agencies while demanding good governance, protection, security, and welfare. Instead, the speech focused on self-praise, imaginary achievements, and empty projections, further reinforcing public apprehension that the APC administration is uncaring and impervious to the suffering of millions of Nigerians.

The party is calling on President Tinubu to come to terms with the fact that the nation is in dire straits under his watch and to address the demands of the people. Specifically, the PDP is urging Tinubu to reduce the cost of petroleum products, stabilize the Naira, and take immediate steps towards the provision of food items to Nigerians.

In conclusion, the PDP’s statement serves as a scathing critique of Tinubu’s speech, highlighting the administration’s lack of empathy and willingness to address the pressing issues affecting the country.
