Dr Disrespect Kicked Out of Gaming Studio Amid Disturbing Allegations

Popular streamer Dr Disrespect, whose real name is Herschel "Guy" Beahm, has been terminated from his gaming studio, Midnight Society, following allegations of an inappropriate text conversation with a minor. The video game streamer was previously banned from Twitch four years ago, and reports suggest it was due to an inappropriate texting relationship with a minor.

An anonymous former employee on Twitch’s trust and safety team told The Verge that Beahm messaged a minor using Twitch’s now-defunct messaging service, Whispers, and attempted to set up a meeting at TwitchCon. Another former Twitch employee, Cody Conners, posted on X alleging that Beahm was banned "because got caught sexting a minor."

Beahm has denied any wrongdoing, stating in a statement on X that he did nothing wrong and was paid as part of a settlement with Twitch. However, the allegations have led to his termination from Midnight Society, a gaming studio he co-founded.

In a statement on X, the studio wrote: "On Friday evening we became aware of an allegation against one of our co-founder’s Guy Beahm aka Dr Disrespect. We assumed his innocence and began speaking with parties involved. And in order to maintain our principles and standards as a studio and individuals, we needed to act. For this reason, we are terminating our relationship with Guy Beahm immediately."

Beahm has taken a break from streaming, citing exhaustion, according to Gizmodo. The allegations have sparked widespread outrage and concern within the gaming community, with many calling for further action to be taken against Beahm.

The incident serves as a reminder of the importance of maintaining a safe and respectful environment within the gaming industry, and the need for swift and decisive action when allegations of inappropriate behavior arise.
