Bobrisky Released from Prison After Mutilating Naira Notes Conviction

Popular Nigerian crossdresser Idris Okuneye, known as Bobrisky, has been released from prison after serving a sentence for mutilating naira notes. The Economic and Financial Crimes Commission (EFCC) had convicted Bobrisky on April 5 for the offense.

According to reports, Bobrisky was charged with four counts of naira abuse and pleaded guilty before Justice A.O. Awogboro of the Federal High Court in Lagos. He was released from prison on Monday, August 5, 2024.

After his release, Bobrisky was seen in a video with friends, dancing to Mohbad’s and Chike’s song "Egwu". His friends were quoted as saying, "We are out of prison. Congratulations, Bobrisky!"

The news of Bobrisky’s release was also shared on social media, with Akpraise Media tweeting, "Bobrisky finally out of prison!!!! pic.twitter.com/T27iIkcNJ4" on August 5, 2024.

Bobrisky’s conviction and subsequent release have sparked widespread reactions on social media, with many expressing surprise and disappointment at the leniency of the sentence.
