Apple Watch SE 2024: A Kid-Friendly Smartwatch in the Making?
In a surprising move, Apple is rumored to be working on a new SE model of smartwatch, designed specifically for children. According to a report by Bloomberg’s Mark Gurman, the Cupertino-based tech giant could be introducing a range of kid-friendly features to make the device more appealing to the younger demographic.
One of the key changes is the inclusion of a larger variety of colour options, which is a departure from Apple’s typical conservative approach to colour choices for its smartwatches. The Apple Watch Series 9 was launched in Midnight, Starlight, Silver, (Product) Red, and Pink, with the black (Midnight) and Silver options being available for several years. However, it seems that the company is ditching this approach for the new SE model, suggesting that kids will have more vibrant options to choose from.
Another feature that could make the Apple Watch SE 2024 more appealing to children is its rigid plastic body, which could potentially reduce the production cost of the device and make it more affordable for consumers.
While not much else is known about the speculated third-generation Apple Watch SE model, previous reports have suggested that the Apple Watch Series 10 might feature larger displays and the same processor as the Apple Watch Ultra 3. However, it’s worth noting that Apple smartwatches this year will not support Apple Intelligence features, which are expected to debut on supported iPhone, iPad, and Mac devices.
The new chipset used for this year’s Apple Watch lineup will reportedly "lay the groundwork" for introducing artificial intelligence (AI) features in the future, giving parents and kids alike something to look forward to.
Stay tuned for more updates on the Apple Watch SE 2024 and what other features it might bring to the table for kids and families.
