Zamfara State APC Secretariat Under Attack

The Zamfara State chapter of the All Progressives Congress (APC) has condemned Monday’s brutal attack on its state secretariat by hoodlums who have allegedly taken over a nationwide hunger protest in the state.

In a statement issued by the party’s Publicity Secretary, Mallam Yusuf Idris Gusau, and made available to newsmen in Gusau, the state capital, the APC detailed the extent of the damage caused by the miscreants. On Friday, the party had cautioned the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP)-led state government against allowing PDP thugs to harm APC leaders or damage party properties in retaliation for attacks on Senator Sahabi Ya’u’s residence in Kaura Namoda and the home of the immediate past governor, now a minister, Matawalle in Gusau.

The APC expressed its shock and disappointment at the development, describing the attack as unacceptable and condemnable. The party urged the security agencies to apprehend and bring the perpetrators to justice, emphasizing that its members and supporters remained peaceful and law-abiding.

The statement continued, "As we cautioned, the hoodlums have gone haywire, forcefully breaking into the APC Secretariat situated along Sokoto Bye Pass Road, Gusau, and destroying the facility, including glasses, doors, and carting away furniture and equipment. The mini secretariat at the back of the main office was also looted, with all furniture, computers, refrigerators, and other valuables being taken away."

Despite this devastating attack, the APC insisted that it remained committed to peaceful means, as evident in the cautious tone employed by the party’s official.

Stay tuned for updates on this developing story as more information becomes available.
