Big Sean Reveals Why He’s Not Ready to Marry Jhené Aiko

Big Sean Says He’s Not Ready to Marry Jhené Aiko

American rapper Big Sean, a long-time partner of singer Jhené Aiko, has opened up about the reasons behind their decision to not get married after eight years of dating. In his appearance on the "Out of Context" podcast with host Charlamagne tha God last Friday, Sean revealed that he wants to work on himself before walking down the aisle.

According to Big Sean, there is "a lot of work that needs to be done" before he can envision a future with Aiko beyond their current relationship. He was candid about the ups and downs that come with loving someone, stating, "It’s a little personal, you know what I mean? But just like to be real with you, just like any person who have dealt with love, we’ve had our ups and downs…"

Despite his desire to reach the highest level of commitment – marriage – Big Sean is keen to avoid airing their personal business and instead focus on personal growth. However, he acknowledged that marriage symbolizes a strong relationship, and he would ultimately like to experience that with Aiko.

The couple has been on again, off again since 2016, with Aiko previously divorcing producer Dot da Genius. Prior to Aiko, Big Sean had proposed to his ex-girlfriend Naya Rivera in 2013, which ultimately ended in a six-month-old engagement.

In 2022, Big Sean and Aiko welcomed their son Noah, joining Aiko’s 15-year-old daughter Namiko, whom she shares with singer O’Ryan. Despite their relationship’s public scrutiny, Big Sean’s comments aim to provide a glimpse into the couple’s journey and their commitment to personal maturity before making any long-term marriage plans.
