SZA Takes a Break from Performing, Fans Welcome the Chance for Her to Focus on New Music
R&B singer SZA has announced that she will be taking a break from performing on stage, citing a need to focus on her personal life and music. The 34-year-old artist made the announcement on social media, stating that her last show was on Monday and that she is "finally bout to get my life together."
SZA’s busy year has seen her perform at various festivals, including Montreal’s Osheaga Fest and Chicago’s Lollapalooza. She has also been touring globally, with 63 dates between February 2023 and May 2024. Despite the announcement, her website still lists two upcoming shows this fall, including a performance at the Al Dana Amphitheatre in Bahrain on November 20 and at Wireless Festival Middle East 2024 on November 23.
Fans of the New Jersey-born artist may welcome the break, as it gives her more time to focus on her music. Her last single, "Saturn," was released earlier this year, but a full mixtape, EP, or album from the Grammy-winning musician hasn’t dropped since 2022’s "SOS."
In March, SZA updated listeners on the progress made on a deluxe version of the chart-topping album, as well as a new project in the works. She also hinted at starting anew, stating that she would be starting from scratch on a project called "Lana." Fans are eagerly awaiting new music from the talented artist.
With her break from performing, SZA can focus on creating new music and nurturing her personal life. Fans can look forward to new releases and possibly a return to the stage in the future.
