Taraba State Governor Commissions Cattle Market, Emphasizes Support for Small and Medium-Sized Enterprises
Taraba State Governor, Dr. Agbu Kefas, has reiterated his administration’s commitment to fostering the growth of small and medium-sized enterprises (SMEs) in the state. The governor made this statement while commissioning the Kefas-Aminu Cattle Market in Bubbling Ward, Zing Local Government, on Thursday.
Represented by Deputy Governor Aminu Alkali, the governor applauded the crucial role of SMEs in boosting revenue and reducing unemployment. He commended Zing Local Government Council Chairman Davoro Gwandis for his dedication to operationalizing the cattle market, emphasizing its alignment with the state’s economic growth strategy.
The governor assured that adequate security measures would be put in place to safeguard the market, given its strategic importance, and encouraged residents of Zing LG to take ownership of the market for its sustainability. He also announced that the state government would support the market with a sum of Ten million Naira to recognize its potential and enhance internally generated revenue.
In his remarks, Davoro Gwandis thanked past council chairmen for conceptualizing the idea of a market in the area. He emphasized the market’s potential to generate employment, stimulate economic prosperity, and boost commercial activities, and called on the people to sustain the market.
The chairman appealed to the state government to build a perimeter fence, provide a livestock clinic, a modern police outpost, and potable water for the market. He also commended Deputy Speaker of the Taraba State House of Assembly, Rt. Hon. John Kizito Bonzena, and Commissioner of Environment and Climate Change, Hon. Aisha Barde, for their roles in the commissioning of the market.
