A shocking attack on a soldier in the Amangwu axis of Ebonyi State, Nigeria, has been strongly condemned by the Edda Elders Council. The council, made up of community leaders, has demanded justice for the brutal killing, which has sent shockwaves through the usually peaceful community.

According to a statement issued by the council, the chairman, Livinus Irem, and secretary, Chief John Emegha, described the incident as tragic and barbaric, citing that it goes against the community’s values and belief system. The statement was released on Thursday and made available to newsmen in Abakaliki, the state capital.

The council condemned the unprovoked attack, which resulted in the death of a soldier, and commended the security agencies for their proactive approach to tackling the grim security situation. The community leaders emphasized that they are committed to sustaining the prevailing atmosphere of peace in the clan and will collaborate with relevant security agencies to ensure that the perpetrators are brought to justice.

The Edda Elders Council’s swift condemnation of the brutal attack is a testament to the community’s resolve to maintain peace and order.
