Nigeria’s Uphstream Petroleum Regulatory Commission Set to Amend Domestic Crude Supply Regulations

The Nigerian Upstream Petroleum Regulatory Commission (NUPRC) has disclosed plans to review and amend the 2023 Domestic Crude Supply Obligations Regulations. NUPRC’s Chief Executive Engineer, Gbenga Komolafe, announced the move in a formal notice on Thursday.

The commission will revise the National Data Repository Regulations alongside updating the Domestic Crude Supply Obligation Regulations. In a bid to make the process more inclusive, stakeholders – including lessees, licensees, host communities, and other relevant parties from the Nigerian Upstream Petroleum sector – will provide input and consultation within a span of 21 days from the notice of intended changes.

The NUPRC emphasized that stakeholders should download and analyze the proposed regulations at https://www.nuprc.gov.ng/regulations-development-pia-2021/ before submitting their input. The commission strictly advises that all submissions undergo the prescribed format, accessible online, and must be received within the granted timeframe.

The move precedes allegations of noncompliance involving crude producers under the current Domestic Crude Supply Obligations Regulations in Nigeria.
