Breaking News: House of Representatives Member Alhassan Doguwa Denies Murder Allegations

Kano, Nigeria – A statement signed by House of Representatives Member Alhassan Doguwa has categorically denied allegations of murder, stating that he is not standing trial for any such offense in Nigeria.

The statement, issued on Thursday, comes in response to allegations made by colleague Abdulmumini Jibrin (NNPP-Kano) against Doguwa. Jibrin had accused Doguwa of being involved in the alleged murder of seven supporters of the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) in Kano State during the 2019 general elections.

Doguwa, however, maintains that he has been cleared of any wrongdoing by the police and the courts. In his statement, he stated that he had undergone "virtually all criminal investigations and judicial considerations at various levels" and had come out "clean and victoriously innocent".

Doguwa also accused Jibrin of being a "political parasite" and "electoral terrorist" who has been involved in violent and political machinations in Kano State. He claimed that Jibrin had launched a brutal attack on the supporters of Senator Rabiu Musa Kwankwaso, then the governorship candidate of the PDP, during a campaign rally in Bebeji through Kofa town.

Doguwa further accused Jibrin of being the mastermind of the attack, which allegedly left seven PDP supporters dead and several others injured, as well as 25 cars belonging to Kwankwaso’s supporters burnt down.

The House of Representatives member also accused Jibrin of planning a political assassination of Kwankwaso, whom he described as his "erstwhile friend". He challenged Jibrin to bring out the evidence of his alleged wrongdoing and accused Jibrin of being an "alien" in Kano politics.

The statement, which concluded with Doguwa stating that he was not standing before any court of law in Nigeria for alleged murder, ended with a call to the media to analyze the claims made by Jibrin.
