Grant Holloway Wins Gold in Men’s 110m Hurdles at Paris 2024 Olympics
SAINT-DENIS, France — Grant Holloway, the 26-year-old American hurdler, has finally achieved his Olympic gold medal dream. After winning everything there is to win as a superstar hurdler, including three world championships and Diamond League titles, Holloway broke through and secured his first Olympic gold medal in the 110-meter hurdles at the Paris 2024 Olympics.
Holloway sprinted and leapt over hurdles, outpacing the field, and won the final in 12.99 seconds. Team USA’s Daniel Roberts took silver, just 0.1 seconds behind, while Jamaica’s Rasheed Broadbell claimed bronze.
The victory was a long time coming for Holloway, who had previously choked away a commanding lead in the 2021 Olympics, settling for silver. This time, he redeemed himself and completed his medal collection.
Holloway entered the race ranked No. 1 in the world, with a personal-best time more than a tenth faster than any competitor. Despite his dominance, he stumbled slightly at the seventh hurdle in Tokyo, allowing Hansle Parchment to take the gold. However, Holloway dominated the three-year interim, hinting at world-record potential and earning the utmost respect of everyone in track and field.
As he celebrated his victory, Holloway said, "I’m looking forward to continuing to show the great form that I’m in." And this time, he followed through on his promise.
