Huawei’s Tri-Fold Smartphone Leaked: CEO Spotted with Prototype
Huawei is reportedly developing a revolutionary triple-foldable smartphone, and the latest development has left the tech world abuzz. According to an Android Headlines report, the CEO of Huawei Consumer Business Group, Richard Yu, was spotted with the prototype of the tri-fold smartphone.
The device appears to have a large inner screen that can be folded thrice, making it a significant improvement over existing foldable smartphones. Tipster Digital Chat Station shared a photo of the device on Weibo, suggesting that it resembles a research and development prototype they had access to earlier.
The tri-fold smartphone is said to sport a 10-inch inner display, with the hole-punch cutout for the front camera located on the left-most screen. It’s also speculated to have an "average" thickness despite being a tri-fold device, which is impressive considering the complexity of its design.
Rumors suggest that the device may be powered by a Kirin 9 series processor, which is one of the newest processors introduced by the Chinese smartphone maker. This processor is also expected to power the upcoming Huawei Mate 70 series in China.
The tipster, Ice Universe, had previously suggested that Huawei could become the world’s first company to launch a tri-fold smartphone, surpassing Samsung in the process. Samsung, which has a long-running foldable smartphone series, is reportedly struggling to make standard foldable handsets thinner.
The release of this tri-fold smartphone could be a significant boost to Huawei in the foldable smartphone segment, giving the company a unique selling proposition in the market.
