Hollywood Stars Flock to Support Zoë Kravitz’s Directorial Debut "Blink Twice"
Los Angeles, CA – Zoë Kravitz’s directorial debut, "Blink Twice", received a star-studded premiere in Los Angeles on Thursday, drawing in a host of A-list celebrities. The psychological thriller follows a tech billionaire, played by Channing Tatum, who invites a cocktail waitress to join him on his private island, where things take a dark turn after her friend vanishes.
Tatum, who is also engaged to Kravitz, was joined at the premiere by a range of notable guests, including Laura Dern, Reese Witherspoon, and Alicia Keys. Other cast members in attendance included Naomi Ackie, Christian Slater, Simon Rex, and Haley Joel Osment.
Co-written by Kravitz, the film tackles sensitive topics such as violence and sexual assault, with Tatum praising her ability to balance tone and theme. "This movie is a very, very thin line to walk… And she nailed it," he said of Kravitz’s direction.
The actress herself threw herself into every aspect of the production, including sound design. "I do think that sound was something that I just, because until you actually experience seeing a film before there’s sound, and getting to see what that does to a finished product is amazing," she explained. "So while I’ve always appreciated sound, being able to kind of create almost a different, a new character when working on the sound and having this whole other layer to the film was an amazing experience."
English actor Naomi Ackie, who plays the cocktail waitress in the film, added context to the movie’s themes, noting its exploration of power dynamics. "It asks people to think about the person or people in their lives that are doing a similar thing to them. Not necessarily the same as this film, but people who are taking advantage of that power and using it to do horrible things to other people," she said.
"Blink Twice" is set to hit cinemas on August 23rd, providing audiences with a thought-provoking and suspenseful cinematic experience.
