H.E.R. to Close Out 2024 Paris Olympics with Stellar Lineup
In a highly anticipated event, American singer-songwriter H.E.R. is set to take center stage at the closing ceremony of the 2024 Paris Olympics on Sunday, August 11. The talented artist will perform the national anthem, titled "Records," at the indoor Stade de France location.
The ceremony, titled "Records," promises to be a journey through time, showcasing the history of the Olympic games. The outlet reports that science-fiction elements will be used to emphasize the importance of preserving the world’s games.
H.E.R. will be joined on stage by legendary French rock band Phoenix and critically acclaimed band Air, who rose to global fame during the "French Touch" movement. The lineup doesn’t stop there, with Billie Eilish, the Red Hot Chili Peppers, and Snoop Dogg also set to perform. However, Billie and the Peppers will perform from Los Angeles.
According to Thierry Reboul, the 2024 Paris Olympics executive director, the focus on French music was intentional. "Today, where we look at the history of music, it’s certainly the French music style and the artists behind it, who have had the biggest resonance in the world. So it was important for us to acknowledge it," he said in an interview.
Reboul also hinted that a teaser for the 2028 Olympics in Los Angeles will be shown during the concluding event. As per tradition, Los Angeles has prepared a 10-15 minute teaser showcasing their Olympic games, with the freedom to create their segment. The segment will include various elements, with the Paris Olympics producing some of the content, but ultimately being in charge of the final product.
