Udinese Rejects Torino’s Bid for Nigerian Goalkeeper Maduka Okoye
Italian football club Udinese has rejected a bid from Torino to sign Nigerian goalkeeper Maduka Okoye, according to reports from Media Talk Africa. The news comes as a surprise, given the 24-year-old’s impressive performances for the club in the second half of last season.
Okoye, who joined Udinese from Watford last summer, has established himself as the team’s first-choice goalkeeper. The Nigerian international has three years remaining on his contract, and it seems Udinese is keen to hold onto him.
The news may come as a disappointment to Torino, who had reportedly made a bid for the shot stopper. However, Udinese is not willing to entertain any offers for Okoye, according to Italian transfer expert Alfredo Pedula.
Interestingly, Okoye was previously linked with a move to Serie A champions Inter Milan earlier in the summer. However, it appears Udinese is keen to keep him at the club.
Okoye was in goal for Udinese’s Coppa Italia 4-0 win over Avellino on Friday night, further solidifying his position as the team’s first-choice goalkeeper.
The decision to reject Torino’s bid may be a sign of Udinese’s confidence in Okoye’s abilities and their desire to build a strong team for the upcoming season.
