Thousands of Muslims Pray Against Hunger, Hardship, and Bad Leadership in Kano State

In a show of solidarity against the hardships faced by many Nigerians, thousands of Muslim faithful gathered at various locations in Kano state to perform special prayers. The prayer sessions were held to mark the end of the 10-day #EndBadGovernance nationwide protests against hardship in the country.

According to reports from DAILY NIGERIAN, the coordinators of the national prayer had earlier announced that the event would take place at Isyaka Rabi’u Mosque, Goron Dutse, and other locations across the 44 Local government areas of the state on Saturday. However, on the eve of the event, one of the organizers, Mubarak Ibrahim, issued a statement announcing that the prayer session had been decentralized to avoid infiltration by thugs.

The decision was made after Kano Commissioner of Police, CP Salman Dogo Garba, and DSS director in the state, Alhassan Muhammad, alerted the organizers that some evil forces were planning to penetrate the session and attack law-abiding worshippers. It is suspected that these forces would lead some youths into looting, shoplifting, and freebooting, as seen on August 1st, the day the national protest began.

Despite the last-minute cancellation, the prayers were still held at various places in the Kano metropolis and even rural areas. In his statement, Mubarak Ibrahim asked the general public to hold prayers in their local mosques and recite as much Quran and pray, stating that the prayer goal could be achieved wherever they are, as Allah hears them wherever they are.

He also urged the public to be extra vigilant against any infiltration by strangers carrying suspicious objects. Let us pray hard for the betterment of the country, he said.

The prayers were seen as a show of unity and solidarity among Muslims in Kano state, who are facing numerous challenges, including poverty, hunger, and bad leadership.
