As the 2024 Paris Olympics come to a close, Team USA has secured several medals across various sports. Here’s a breakdown of the top five stories from Day 15:
- USWNT Wins First Gold Medal Since 2012: The United States Women’s National Team (USWNT) won the gold medal in women’s soccer with a 1-0 victory over Brazil. The team, led by coach Emma Hayes, has been on a roll, and this win marks their first Olympic gold medal since 2012.
- US Men’s Basketball Wins Gold Again: The US men’s basketball team won their fifth consecutive Olympic gold medal with a 98-87 victory over France. Kevin Durant led the team with 24 points, and LeBron James was named MVP of the tournament.

South Carolina women’s basketball coach Dawn Staley and her former player, Kamila Cardoso, had a friendly bet over the gold medal women’s soccer game between the U.S. and Brazil. With the U.S. winning, Cardoso, a native Brazilian, will have to wear a USWNT jersey during the tunnel walk before an upcoming Chicago Sky game and on an Instagram Live video.
