Asake Spills the Tea on Yoruba Music, Wizkid Collab, and Upcoming Tour

In a recent Instagram live session, Nigerian singer Asake gave fans a glimpse into his creative process and upcoming projects. The “Lungu Boy” crooner revealed why he prefers singing in Yoruba, his collaboration with Wizkid on the single “MMS,” and teased unreleased tracks with Davido.

When asked about singing in Yoruba, Asake explained that while he can sing in English, he’s more comfortable in his native language. “Not like I can’t sing in English but I am more comfortable singing in Yoruba,” he said. “So if you fc with me, fc with me in Yoruba,” he added.

Asake also shared the story behind his collaboration with Wizkid on “MMS.” According to the singer, producer P.Priime played the song for Wizkid, who loved it and decided to record his verse. This marks the first time Asake has worked with the Afrobeats superstar.

The conversation also turned to Asake’s upcoming tour, which will feature stops at iconic venues like the O2 Arena and Madison Square Garden. He’ll be the fourth Nigerian artist to headline the latter, joining the likes of Wizkid, Tiwa Savage, and Davido.

Asake’s third album, “Lungu Boy,” has been well-received by fans and critics alike. The album is expected to be a major hit, with the singer’s unique blend of Afrobeats and Yoruba rhythms making waves in the music industry.
