Kendrick Lamar’s “Not Like Us” Breaks Record, Surpassing 2Pac’s “Hit ‘Em Up” as Most Streamed Diss Track

In a significant achievement, Kendrick Lamar’s scathing diss track “Not Like Us” has surpassed 2Pac’s iconic “Hit ‘Em Up” as the most streamed diss track in Spotify history. This accomplishment was reported over the weekend, as “Not Like Us” officially crept past “Hit ‘Em Up” on the streaming platform.

Released in May, “Not Like Us” was a result of a heated lyrical battle between Kendrick and Drake, which culminated in a verbal assault on Drake’s credibility and accusations of being a sexual predator. Produced by Mustard, the song rocketed to number one on the Billboard Hot 100, becoming the biggest rap song of 2024.

The song also includes references to Drake’s seeming disrespect towards 2Pac, who was tragically killed in 1996. 2Pac’s “Hit ‘Em Up” was a scathing diss track aimed at The Notorious B.I.G. and other members of the Bad Boy Records camp. Unveiled in 1996, it marked the peak of the East Coast-West Coast rap wars and cemented its place as one of the most iconic and incendiary diss tracks in hip-hop history.

“Not Like Us” has received widespread acclaim since its release, breaking multiple streaming and charting records. The song also broke the record for most Spotify streams in a single day, surpassing the previous record held by Drake’s 2021 single “Girls Want Girls” featuring Lil Baby.

In a significant vote of confidence, Grammy CEO Harvey Mason Jr. confirmed in June that “Not Like Us” is in consideration for a Grammy Award nomination. This feat is a testament to Kendrick’s lyrical prowess and the song’s impact on the hip-hop world.

As the music landscape continues to evolve, it’s clear that “Not Like Us” has left its mark on history, cementing its status as one of the greatest diss tracks of all time.
