Nigerian President Bola Tinubu Praises Youth’s Creativity and Potential to Drive Digital Growth

Nigerian President Bola Tinubu on Monday celebrated International Youth Day, acknowledging the remarkable contributions of the country’s young population to driving digital innovation, adoption, and trends not only in Nigeria but also globally.

In a speech delivered on the occasion of the event, the President emphasized the exceptional talent and creative energy of the nation’s youth, describing them as the “pearl of transformation” who have the potential to digitally innovate Nigeria to prosperity and global acclaim. He hailed the youth’s ability to develop cutting-edge technologies and innovations, saying it has the power to make the world a more prosperous and evolved place.

President Tinubu also drew attention to several inspiring examples of youthful entrepreneurs in Nigeria, including those from Ebute Metta who are making a name for themselves in the entertainment industry using innovative means, as well as a young woman in Aba creating inimitable fashion pieces and a young man in Kano using agro-technology to create pathways for sustainable agriculture.

As part of efforts to harness the creative potential of Nigeria’s youth, the President announced that his administration had relaunched the Nigeria Youth Investment Fund (NYIF) under the Federal Ministry of Youth Development. This N110 billion fund is dedicated to empowering the youth in priority sectors to drive sustainable economic growth and development.

Additionally, the President mentioned that the administration has launched various initiatives, such as the Digital and Creative Enterprises (IDiCE) programme, the 3Million Technical Talents Scheme, the Skill-Up Artisans Programme (SUPA), and the National Youth Talent Export Programme (NATEP), all aimed at empowering the nation’s young people to become globally competitive.

President Tinubu assured the youth that his administration is committed to actualizing their dreams in a sustainably expanding economy. The celebrations will undoubtedly inspire a new generation of young Nigerians to explore the many opportunities available in the digital sector.
