Tragedy Strikes Sokoto as Four Die in Boat Mishap

A devastating boat accident has left four people dead in Dundaye community, Wamakko Local Government Area of Sokoto State, Nigeria. The incident occurred on Sunday evening, according to Alhaji Aliyu Kafindangi, Head of Sokoto Field Operation Office of the National Emergency Management Agency (NEMA).

The rescue team, comprising members from NEMA, Nigerian Red Cross, Fire Services, State Emergency Management Agency, and local divers, recovered the dead bodies on Monday. Kafindangi confirmed the incident to the News Agency of Nigeria (NAN) on Tuesday in Sokoto.

According to the NEMA official, 24 people were involved in the incident, but 19 have been rescued so far. The rescue team recovered one dead body on Sunday and three more on Monday, bringing the total number of deaths to four. Unfortunately, one person is still missing, and the search and rescue operation is ongoing.

Kafindangi expressed gratitude to the state and local governments, as well as community members, for their support in the rescue operations.
