US Embassy in Monrovia Temporarily Suspends Visa Services

U.S. Embassy in Monrovia Announces Temporary Visa Application Disruption

The United States Embassy in Monrovia has announced a temporary disruption to its visa application services, effective August 16, 2024. The embassy is transitioning to a new provider for visa application services, which will cause a temporary suspension of all nonimmigrant and immigrant visa application services.

For those who have already scheduled visa appointments for August 16th or earlier, their appointments remain valid, and they can continue to access their appointment details and contact customer service through the existing ustraveldocs.com website.

However, for those seeking new appointments or with existing appointments after August 16th, the process will change. The embassy advises applicants who have not yet secured an interview but have paid the visa fee to schedule their appointment as soon as possible, ideally before August 16th. Those planning a trip to the U.S. in August and haven’t paid the visa fee are encouraged to pay the fee and schedule their interview immediately.

Applicants with appointments after August 16th will no longer be able to access their ustraveldocs.com account after that date. They will need to print their appointment confirmation letter before August 16th and attend their interview as planned. The embassy recommends checking its website regularly for updates on the new visa scheduling service provider and instructions on how to use the new system.

In a separate development, a U.S. Department of State report revealed that Liberian nationals had the highest refusal rate among B-type U.S. visa applicants in Africa in 2023, with a whopping 78.19% refusal rate. The report also showed that Seychelles had the lowest refusal rate in Africa, with a rate of 4.55%.

By staying informed and following these guidelines, applicants can navigate the temporary disruption and ensure their visa application process remains smooth.
