Rivers State APC Chairman Sets Condition for Collaboration with Governor Fubara
In a recent interview on Arise TV Morning Show, Emeka Beke, the reinstated Chairman of the All Progressives Congress (APC) in Rivers State, has laid down a condition for his party to work with Governor Sim Fubara. According to Beke, APC will collaborate with Fubara if the governor extends a hand of fellowship to the party.
Beke emphasized that Fubara should be allowed to carry out his constitutional duties as governor, stating that “you can’t have two governors in one state, even if your own son is made governor, you should allow him to function.” He also downplayed any link between former Minister of Transportation, Rotimi Amaechi, and Fubara, saying that Amaechi has no connection with the governor.
The APC chairman expressed his party’s willingness to work with Fubara to develop the state, citing that “Rivers is going backwards” due to ongoing political infighting. He urged that the politicking has ended, and it’s now time for governance.
Fubara has been at loggerheads with Minister of the Federal Capital Territory (FCT), Nyesom Wike, since assuming office. The rift has centered around the control of the political structure in the state, despite interventions from critical stakeholders and President Bola Tinubu.
The situation has affected the state legislature, with the Rivers State House of Assembly currently having factional speakers. Beke’s condition for collaboration with Fubara remains a crucial step towards resolving the ongoing political crisis in Rivers State.
