Simone Biles’ Biological Mother Hopes to Make Amends

Shanon Biles, the biological mother of Olympic gold medalist Simone Biles, has expressed her desire to make amends with her daughter. In a recent interview with Daily Mail, Shanon opened up about her past struggles with drug and alcohol addiction and the difficulties she faced in giving up her children.

According to Shanon, she had to give up her children, including Simone, 27, and Adria Biles, 22, to foster care before her father, Ronald Biles, and his wife, Nellie, took over guardianship. Ashley and Tevin, her other two children, were taken in by Ronald’s sister.

Shanon, 52, has been open about her struggles with addiction, revealing that she’s been “in trouble” since 2022 and now works as a discount grocery store cashier. She has also spoken about her journey towards recovery, stating that she is a “recovering addict” who will always be an addict, but that there is a way to recovery.

When asked about reconnecting with Simone, Shanon admitted that she has her daughter’s “direct number,” but won’t use it. She wants Simone to reach out to her and is willing to wait for her daughter to make the first move. Shanon also spoke about her relationship with her father Ronald, claiming that they speak “all the time.”

Shanon has also expressed her pride in Simone’s accomplishments, including her historic Olympic wins, and has watched her daughter become the most decorated gymnast in history on TV.

In a heartfelt plea, Shanon asked Simone to forgive her and to sit down and talk to her, stating that she wants to answer any questions Simone may have and to hear the real deal. She emphasized that she is not the same person she used to be and is willing to make amends.
