Sani Exposes Senators’ High Pay, Says They Earn N21m Monthly

Senator Shehu Sani Reveals Shocking Truth About Nigerian Lawmakers’ Salaries

In a shocking revelation, Senator Shehu Sani, a former member of the 8th Senate, has disclosed that he received N13 million as a monthly salary during his time in office. This is in stark contrast to the Revenue Mobilisation Allocation and Fiscal Commission’s (RMAFC) claim that Senators earn N1 million each.

Speaking on Channels Television’s Lunchtime Politics on Wednesday, Sani insisted that the RMAFC is being economical with the truth. He stated that the commission is hiding the true figures, which he believes are closer to N21 million per month.

Sani’s revelation was corroborated by Distinguished Senator Kawu Ismaila from Kano, who confirmed that Senators from the current 10th Senate receive up to N21 million monthly.

The former lawmaker, who represented Kaduna Central in the 8th Senate, expressed his frustration at the secrecy surrounding lawmakers’ salaries. He believes that taxpayers and Nigerians have the right to know how much their legislators are earning and how much they are actually being given.

Sani, who was an activist before joining the Senate, revealed that he had been pricked by his conscience about the secrecy surrounding lawmakers’ salaries. He went on to disclose his own monthly salary, which was N13.5 million, during his time in office.

The former senator emphasized that there is no need to deceive Nigerians or cover up anything, especially since legislators receive public money. He believes that those involved should come out and say it as it is, just like he did.

Sani’s revelations have sparked controversy and raised questions about the transparency of lawmakers’ salaries in Nigeria. The country’s citizens are now demanding more accountability and openness from their elected representatives.
