Ogun State Government Denies Spending Trillions on Projects

In a statement released by the Special Adviser on Media and Strategy to the Governor, Kayode Akinmade, the Ogun State government has refuted a viral social media rumor claiming that it spent trillions of Naira on projects. The statement described the report as a “laughable hatchet job” and a “figment of the imagination” of the purveyors.

The government attributed the rumor to political adversaries who are bent on distracting the governor. The statement questioned how much the state makes to have spent N1 trillion on a road, wondering how such a massive amount could be spent on a single project.

The allegations of corruption against the administration of Governor Dapo Abiodun in Ogun State have been denied, with the government describing them as “fabricated narratives and malicious allegations.” The statement also denied claims that the state Accountant-General and five others were invited by the Economic and Financial Crimes Commission (EFCC) over alleged diversion of Local Government Funds.

According to the statement, the Dapo Abiodun-led administration has been “very diligent, transparent, and accountable with the finances of Ogun State right from its inception.” The government emphasized that it has been working to promote the well-being of the people of Ogun State and has been committed to good governance and transparency.

The attention of the Ogun State Government has been drawn to a misleading write-up titled, “New twist in Ogun State re: #whereisourmoney?” making rounds on social media. The government is urging citizens to disregard the false information and to remain vigilant against such attempts to tarnish its image.

In conclusion, the Ogun State government has categorically denied the allegations of corruption and mismanagement of funds, reaffirming its commitment to transparency and accountability.
