50 Cent’s Billionaire Ambitions: "I’d Rather Be Called Very Rich"
Curtis "50 Cent" Jackson, the renowned TV mogul, businessman, and rapper, has expressed his disinterest in reaching billionaire status. Despite having multiple lucrative avenues of income, including his TV and film projects, as well as his equity in various companies, the 49-year-old prefers to be referred to as "very rich" rather than a billionaire.
In a recent interview with Us Weekly, 50 Cent was asked if his pockets had grown deep enough to catapult him into the billionaire range. However, he pushed back against the label, stating, "I’m not in a hurry to reach billionaire status. I’ve reached a point where I don’t want anything I don’t have. What’s the rush? I’ve bought every car I wanted, multiple times over."
50 Cent further elaborated on the consequences of being publicly labeled a billionaire. "When people publicly say you’re a billionaire, they come for what you have," he explained. "The IRS might suddenly decide they want 58 percent of your money. The ambulance chasers, the attorneys — it’s an army of ’em after you. Then you’d have to protect yourself because you have deep pockets."
The Queens rapper also touched on the idea that money can bring happiness, but it’s not the ultimate goal. "I’ve been very blessed to have the opportunities I’ve had, and I’ve been able to live the life I want," he said.
With his various ventures, including his upcoming docuseries focused on disgraced music mogul Diddy and the expansion of his Power universe franchise on Starz, 50 Cent is likely to reach billionaire status in the future. Nevertheless, his focus remains on building his empire and enjoying the fruits of his labor, rather than striving for a specific label.
