Nigerian Defender Chigozie Chilekwu Joins Tanzanian Club Tabora United
In a significant transfer move, Nigerian left-back Chigozie Chilekwu has completed his switch to Tanzanian club Tabora United. The 28-year-old defender has signed a one-year deal with the Tanzanian outfit, bringing an end to his stint with nine-time Nigeria Premier Football League champions Enyimba.
Chilekwu’s departure from Enyimba comes after the expiration of his contract last month. During his time with the People’s Elephant, he was part of the team that won the NPFL title in the 2022-23 season. Prior to joining Enyimba, Chilekwu had played for Sunshine Stars, Lobi Stars, and Akwa United.
The move to Tabora United marks a new chapter in Chilekwu’s career, and he will be joining a team that already boasts three other Nigerian players. Shedrach Asiegbu, Victor Sochima, and Morice Chukwu, all former players of Rivers United, are already part of the Tabora United squad.
