Tottenham Midfielder Yves Bissouma Suspended After Inhaling Nitrous Oxide

In a shocking move, Tottenham midfielder Yves Bissouma has been suspended by the club after footage emerged showing him inhaling nitrous oxide, also known as laughing gas. The incident has led to a one-match ban for the Malian international, ruling him out of the team’s Premier League opener against Leicester on Monday.

According to sources, Bissouma uploaded the video clips to Snapchat over the weekend, which sparked a swift investigation by the club. Following the investigation, Tottenham handed Bissouma a one-match suspension, citing his serious lack of judgment and failure to meet the expected standards of conduct.

In a statement, Bissouma acknowledged his mistakes and apologized for any negative impact on the team and fans. The club’s manager, Ange Postecoglou, also addressed the issue, saying, “He is a footballer of this club, and he has failed in his duties… He won’t be available for Monday, but beyond that, there is also work to be done on trust between Biss and me, and between Biss and the group.”

Nitrous oxide is a Class C drug under UK law and can have severe consequences, including brain and nerve damage, when used heavily. Postecoglou stressed the need for an educational component to ensure Bissouma understands the gravity of his actions and to prevent similar incidents in the future.

This incident marks a disappointing start to the season for Bissouma, who has made 26 starts under Postecoglou since joining Tottenham from Brighton in 2022.
