Nigerian Woman Arrested for Hiding AK47 and Magazines in Sack of Garri

A 30-year-old woman, Hauwa Yusuf, has been arrested by operatives of the Special Tactical Squad (STS) for hiding an AK47 rifle and four AK magazines inside a sack of garri. The arrest was made during a stop-and-search operation along the Abuja-Kaduna Expressway.

According to the Force spokesperson, Muyiwa Adejobi, Yusuf was arrested while in transit from Lafia, Nasarawa State to Katsina State, inside a Sienna Bus. A search was conducted, and the weapons were recovered from the suspect.

During interrogation, Yusuf confessed that she was sent by a notorious bandit, Aminu Basullube, to take delivery of the arms in the Danum Madam Camp, Katsina State. She claimed she didn’t know a gun was concealed in the sack of garri and was given 130,000 naira to take the garri to Katsina, with a transport fare of 15,000 naira.

In a separate incident, a team of operatives attached to the FID-STS left for Igbowo, Oyo State to investigate the activities of Musa Saidu. Investigations revealed that Saidu had left his community for five years and upon his return, he started spending money extravagantly, buying new motorcycles and cows.

Saidu confessed to the crimes and revealed that he was operating under the leadership of Haruna ‘m’ in Birnin Gwari forest, Kaduna State. He used AK47 rifles during his operations and was given 25 cows as proceeds from his criminal activities, which he sold in Kaduna State.

The suspect added that he became a cattle rustler after falling victim to the same crime and was arrested after traveling back home to enjoy the proceeds of his crime.
