Nigeria’s 2027 Presidential Election: Primate Ayodele Warns PDP Against Atiku’s Candidacy
In a recent video shared on his social media handle, Primate Elijah Ayodele, the spiritual head of the INRI evangelical church, has issued a stern warning to the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) against giving former Vice President Atiku Abubakar its 2027 presidential ticket. Ayodele believes that if PDP chooses Atiku as its candidate, the party will ultimately fail and even cease to exist.
According to Ayodele, Atiku is not the right person to lead PDP in the 2027 presidential election. In the video, he stated, “PDP, if you want to fail, give Atiku your presidency. You will see that you will fail. It is going to be a cheap victory for APC.” He emphasized that Atiku’s candidacy would be disastrous for PDP, saying, “Atiku is not the answer for the PDP in 2027. He is not the answer. If you try Atiku, then, politically, PDP is dead. That is the end of PDP.”
Atiku has made several attempts to become Nigeria’s president, including a stint as Vice President in 1999. However, every effort to occupy the highest political seat in Nigeria has failed. In 2023, Atiku came second in the presidential election, defeated by President Bola Tinubu in a closely contested race.
Ayodele’s warning has sparked controversy and raised questions about the viability of Atiku’s candidacy. The former Vice President has yet to respond to the Primate’s comments, but the debate is likely to continue in the lead-up to the 2027 presidential election.
