Houston Rapper BeatKing Dies at 39
Justin Riley, known professionally as BeatKing, has died at the age of 39. The Houston rapper passed away due to a pulmonary embolism while at a local radio station in Houston. He was pronounced dead on Thursday at the hospital.
BeatKing’s representative, Tasha Felder, confirmed the news on social media, stating that the rapper was at the radio station when he passed out. She wrote on Instagram, “Today, August 15, 2024, we have lost @Clubgodzilla… BeatKing has been the best part of the club for over a decade. He has produced and worked with so many artists, that his sound will forever live. He loved his daughters, his music, and his fans. We will love him forever.”
Felder also confirmed that BeatKing’s daughters were by his side in the hospital at the time of his passing.
A pulmonary embolism is a potentially life-threatening condition that occurs when a blood clot gets lodged in an artery in the lungs, blocking blood flow. According to ABC, “PE often originates from deep vein thrombosis (DVT), where blood clots form in the deep veins of the legs or other parts of the body. When these clots break free, they can travel through the bloodstream to the lungs, causing a blockage.”
BeatKing was a renowned rapper and producer, known for his hit singles such as “Then Leave” and “SDAB”, featuring 2 Chainz and Juicy J. His latest album, “Never Leave Houston On A Sunday”, was released last month. He has also worked with other notable artists, including Ludacris and Queendom Come.
Houston hip-hop icon Bun B paid tribute to the rapper on Instagram, writing, “It’s always the good ones… Just a great spirited person.”
BeatKing will be remembered for his contributions to the music industry and his legacy will live on through his music.
