APC Governorship Candidate Monday Okpebholo Gains Momentum Ahead of Edo Elections
As the September 21 elections in Edo State approach, All Progressive Congress (APC) governorship candidate Monday Okpebholo is gaining momentum with key endorsements from influential figures in the region.
During a recent ward-to-ward campaign in Ekpon, Igueben Local Government area of Edo State, Minister for Niger Delta Development Abubakar Momoh declared that the people of Edo North Senatorial District would give Okpebholo a “block vote” in the upcoming election. This endorsement is seen as a major boost for Okpebholo, who is facing stiff competition from candidates of other political parties.
In an interview, Momoh expressed optimism over Okpebholo’s chances of winning the election, saying that the APC candidate has the support of not only Edo North but also Edo South. He argued that it would be illogical for Edo Central, which produced Okpebholo, to refuse to vote for him.
Okpebholo himself emphasized that his state is not for sale and that he is committed to empowering women and youths, creating an enabling environment for small and medium-scale businesses to thrive, and providing primary healthcare centers in all 192 wards of the state.
Meanwhile, a former Governor of Edo State, Adams Oshiomhole, has urged voters not to fall for the Peoples Democratic Party’s (PDP) plan to continue Governor Godwin Obaseki’s rule. He argues that a vote for PDP candidate Asue Ighodalo would be a vote for Obaseki’s continuation in office.
Odianosen Okojie, the Coordinator of the APC campaign council in Edo Central Senatorial District, appealed to party supporters to come out in large numbers on September 21 to vote for Okpebholo. He assured electorates that immediately after the APC candidate is elected, the benefits of democracy would be delivered to the people of Edo State.
The APC governorship candidate, accompanied by Oshiomhole, Ize-Iyamu, Matthew Urhoghide, and other campaign members, also commissioned a bole hole donated by Okpebholo to the Iruekpen community.
As the elections approach, Okpebholo’s momentum is gaining pace, with key endorsements and campaign promises aimed at winning the hearts and minds of voters in Edo State.
