Dr. Dre Eyes 2028 Olympics, Training in Archery

Hip-hop mogul Dr. Dre is taking his passion for archery to the next level, with aspirations to compete in the 2028 Summer Olympics in Los Angeles. The 59-year-old producer, known for his work with Snoop Dogg and Eminem, expressed his interest in the sport during the closing ceremonies of the 2024 Olympics.

In an interview with Entertainment Tonight, Dr. Dre revealed his plan to start training in earnest, saying, “I’m starting to try out for the Olympics in 2028. I’m deadass serious… I started playing around with archery in junior high. I stopped for a while, and my son bought me a setup; I don’t know if it was for my birthday or Father’s Day or something like that, so I have it set up in my backyard.”

Currently, Dr. Dre is training at 90 feet, just shy of the qualifying distance of 70 feet for the Olympics. However, he remains optimistic about his chances, stating, “I feel like I can do anything.”

Two-time Olympic gold medalist Justin Huish has offered to train Dr. Dre, emphasizing that age is no barrier to success in archery. “Anyone can do it at any age,” Huish told TMZ. “You can be a phenom and you don’t really know. I’ll come to your house. I will train you. I will dedicate my time to train with you. If you’re really serious about this, hit me up. We’ll make it happen!”

Dr. Dre has also spoken out about his disappointment with the break-dancing category at the 2024 Olympics, stating that it was poorly presented. However, he remains focused on his archery training and the prospect of competing in the 2028 games.

The production of his collaborative album with Snoop Dogg, “Missionary,” is still underway, with Dr. Dre promising a more mature sound. “This one is going to show a different level of maturity with his lyrics and with my music,” he said.

As Dr. Dre continues his archery journey, fans will be eagerly awaiting the opportunity to see him take the Olympic stage.
