APC Chairman Abdullahi Ganduje Denies Presidential Ambition in 2027
In a surprising turn of events, Abdullahi Ganduje, the National Chairman of Nigeria’s ruling All Progressives Congress (APC), has denied having a presidential ambition in the 2027 elections. The development comes after a viral poster emerged online indicating his intention to run for president, accompanied by an image of himself and Imo State Governor, Hope Uzodimma, as his running mate.
The poster, which read “The Winning Team 2027. Vote APC 2027,” has been described by Ganduje as a malicious piece of fake news. In a statement released on Sunday, his spokesman, Edwin Olofu, accused the Kwankwassiyya movement, led by former Kano governor Rabiu Kwankwaso, of being behind the propaganda.
According to the APC chairman, the fake news is designed to create a rift between him and President Bola Tinubu, whom he remains fully committed to supporting. Ganduje stressed that he believes Tinubu is on the right trajectory to lead Nigeria towards greater prosperity and unity.
In a statement, Ganduje said: “This is to inform the general public that the poster currently circulating on social media, claiming that the APC National Chairman, Abdullahi Ganduje, is contesting for the Presidency in 2027 with Imo State Governor, Hope Uzodimma, as his running mate, is entirely false and a malicious piece of fake news.”
The APC national chairman categorically stated that this is the work of mischief-makers, likely in collaboration with certain elements within the Kwankwassiyya movement, who are determined to create disaffection between him and President Tinubu.
For his part, Ganduje reiterated his loyalty to President Tinubu and expressed his commitment to supporting the President’s vision and leadership. The APC chairman has also urged the general public to disregard the fake news and continue to trust the leadership of the ruling party.
