Veteran Police Officer Honored for 35 Years of Service, Calls for Improved Welfare
The ceremony marking the retirement of Olatoye Durosinmi, Assistant Inspector-General of Police (AIG) in charge of Zone 2, Lagos, was held at the Police College, Ikeja, on Monday. After 35 years of dedicated service to the Force, Durosinmi’s dedication and commitment were honored by colleagues, family, and friends.
At the ceremony, Durosinmi reflected on his years in the police force, describing them as filled with opportunities. He also expressed his concerns over the welfare of retired officers, noting that the benefits, particularly in terms of medical coverage, were not sufficient.
In a passionate address, Durosinmi called on the Federal Government to invest in the police force and improve the welfare of its officers. He emphasized that the society in which the police operate should also make it easy for them to carry out their duties, saying that the police “may look hard”, but the society where they operate should make it easy.
Commissioner of Police, Lagos State Command, Adegoke Fayoade, was present at the ceremony and congratulated Durosinmi and his family on this milestone. He praised Durosinmi for his exemplary leadership, describing him as a father and amenable leader who always listened to everyone and was a problem solver.
As a distinguished career officer, Durosinmi’s legacy serves as an inspiration to upcoming generations of police officers. His dedication, commitment, and leadership have made a lasting impact on the police force, and his honor is a testament to his hard work and achievements.
The retirement ceremony was marked with fanfare, with dignitaries and guests in attendance to bid farewell to the veteran officer.
