Cardi B Defends Vybz Kartel Against InSensitive Jokes and Bullies
Reggae legend Vybz Kartel’s recent freedom from prison has been met with mixed emotions. While many are celebrating his release, some have taken to making insensitive jokes about his appearance, which has sparked controversy. Dancehall icon Cardi B has come forward to defend Kartel, using her platform to speak out against bullying and insensitive comments.
In a recent interview, Cardi B expressed her support for Kartel, stating, “I do not play about fking Vybz Kartel. When I see y’all fking Americans… No offense, no offense. I mean, I’m American, but when I see y’all talking about fking Vybz Kartel, I be getting upset ’cause, like, not too much. Not too fking much. Mind your fking business. I do not play about fking Vybz Kartel, bi**h. At all. At all. I do not, I do not, I do not.”
Kartel, who has been battling Graves’ disease, recently shared photos of himself, which featured his discolored skin, a common symptom of the autoimmune disease. Fans suggested that he was bleaching his skin, despite his condition being publicized for over a year. This led to the “On Dat Money” artist feeling the need to step up for him.
The Grammy-winning rapper has been vocal about standing up to bullies throughout August. Earlier this month, she was caught on camera threatening to fight a woman in New York City. An eyewitness told The New York Post that people gathered outside of an apartment building to take pictures, and one of the tenants came out and started yelling at them to leave the premises, even kicking a parked Tesla Cybertruck.
Cardi witnessed this altercation and yelled at the woman from her black SUV, stating, “I’m recording you bih, I’ll fk you up for real.” Fan pages began to pick up the story, and some people attempted to make it seem like the altercation occurred after her divorce announcement. However, Cardi provided calendar evidence that proved this false.
In a social media post, Cardi wrote, “[Bi**hes trying to be funny and make this something it’s not but I don’t care. I don’t like when people think they can bully people for no reason.. like how you gonna do all that yelling, hit their car, AND call the cops all because they taking pictures in front of a building?!”
This isn’t the first time Cardi has spoken out against bullying and online harassment. Her platform has given her a voice to speak out against such behaviors, and she continues to use her influence to promote positivity and support those who are being targeted by online bullies.
