Donald Trump, the former US President, appears to be attempting to win over fans of global superstar Taylor Swift. However, his effort has been met with skepticism and disbelief. Trump took to his website Truth Social to post images of people allegedly wearing “Swifties for Trump” shirts, writing “I accept!” But a closer look reveals that most of these “people” are AI-generated.
The post includes only two genuine photos of real women wearing “Swifties for Trump” shirts. Even these images are accompanied by AI-created women who were claimed to be “supporting” Trump. The story itself has been labeled as satire, and the claims that these women are now backing Trump after Swift’s Vienna concerts were canceled due to terror threats are entirely fictional.
Despite Trump’s attempt to court Taylor Swift and her devoted fan base, Swift herself has repeatedly shown her disdain for the former President. In 2020, she publicly endorsed President Joe Biden and VP-turned-nominee Kamala Harris. It is unlikely that she would back Trump in any future election.
While some Swifties may indeed support Trump, it does not mean that a significant portion of the fandom does. In fact, a coalition of Swifties, known as Swifties4Kamala, has mobilized in support of Kamala Harris, boasting over 200,000 followers across social media platforms. The group plans to mobilize voters and has already received thousands of sign-ups for a Zoom call.
Trump’s attempt to woo Swifties appears to be an unsuccessful endeavor, as it has drawn widespread ridicule and disbelief.
