Minister of the Federal Capital Territory, Nyesom Wike, Slams Fellow Politician Senator Adolphus Wabara as “Inconsistent Character and Sellout”

In a scathing attack, Minister Nyesom Wike has called out Senator Adolphus Wabara, the former Senate President and Chairman of the Board of Trustees of the People’s Democratic Party (PDP), as an “inconsistent character and sellout.” Wike made the comments during a media parley on Wednesday, marking his one-year anniversary as Minister of the Federal Capital Territory.

Wike questioned Wabara’s leadership credentials, citing the BOT chairman’s recent declaration of support for Alex Otti, the Governor of Abia State and candidate of the Labour Party. According to Wike, Wabara’s actions are inconsistent with his position as PDP BOT chairman. “Wabara is the PDP BOT chairman, and the Governor of his state, Alex Otti has not stayed one year when Wabara said his second term is guaranteed. This is the second term of another political party, and he said he is the conscience of the party.”

The Minister also accused Wabara of being untrustworthy, pointing to an incident in 2023 when Wabara led a team to visit him to address a crisis in the PDP related to the presidential candidate. Wike questioned the whereabouts of the report submitted by Wabara’s team, and accused him of being rewarded for his loyalty with the acting chairmanship of the PDP.

Wike’s words were laced with frustration, and he seemed to be expressing his disbelief at Wabara’s sudden shift in allegiance. “You have taken a position and you are inviting me? To do what? To waste my time? Wabara is not in a position to lead. Do you know how he became the chairman of the PDP BOT? Ask him. And what kind of characters are these who cannot keep their promises?”

This latest salvo in a developing political drama has sent shockwaves through Nigeria’s political circles, with many wondering what Wabara’s next move will be.
