WWE Veteran Tommy Dreamer Praises Recent NXT Title Segment, Calls Out Injustice towards Otis

In a recent interview on Busted Open Radio, veteran WWE wrestler Tommy Dreamer broke down the recent NXT title segment, praising the work of Joe Hendry, Ethan Page, and Wes Lee.

The segment, which saw Page crowned the new top champion at Heatwave, was commended by Dreamer for its well-crafted storyline. “I thought Joe did great,” Dreamer said. “I thought it was a much better version of Ethan Page because I think he’s finding his groove. And then shock value of the Wes Lee out of nowhere superkick. I enjoy all that because you’re like, ‘Wait. Wes is in a feud with the Rascalz.'”

Dreamer also highlighted the impressive reactions Hendry received at the Performance Center, labeling him a “great promo guy.” He noted that a Triple Threat Match between Hendry, Lee, and Pete Dunne would make for a great contest for the top title.

However, Dreamer’s praise for the NXT segment was tempered by his criticism of the WWE’s treatment of Otis, a fan-favorite wrestler who has recently struggled to find his footing. “Otis, I love him! The fans love him. He is getting these amazing reactions. When we talk about the ‘It’ factor, people just relate to him in some weird way. He is so entertaining. And he goes out; he answers the challenge to Oba Femi—a good match—but he takes another L. So I’m like, ‘Why don’t they see it in this guy?’ He was at one point the hottest star. He has everything in my opinion of somebody I could push to the moon.”

The loss to Oba Femi, according to Dreamer, only served to elevate the Nigerian star while leaving Otis feeling underutilized. He called on WWE to give Otis more prominent opportunities, citing the fan support behind him.

Overall, Dreamer’s assessment of the NXT title segment was one of praise, but his criticism of Otis’s treatment served as a stark reminder of the challenges facing many big-name wrestlers in the WWE today.
